F. del Barrio de la RosaHe has recently joined the Biblia Medieval Project, although he has used the corpus since 2008 for his personal research on the History of Spanish Language. His task in the project focuses on the study of verbal argument structure from a diachronic point of view and he is currently working on the interaction between tempo-aspectual features and the syntactic structure of sentences (evolution of estar, the syntactic expression of states), the choice of preposition in oblique complements and the lexicalization problem of the verb-preposition group and the geographic distribution of valency alternations. The main purpose of his research aims at setting a semantic classification of Old Spanish verbs and understanding its evolution.

Besides the study of verb classes in Biblia Medieval, his current research interests fall into the fields of Historical Linguistics, Comparative Grammar and Pragmatics.

He is Assistant Professor at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (Italy) since 2008. Previously he has worked at Universities and other educational institutions in Spain, Germany and Italy.
